WALKING TACOS
Prep Time:
15 mins
Cook Time:
5 mins
Total Time:
20 mins
Servings:
6
Ingredients
Original recipe (1X) yields 6 servings
1 lb ground beef
1 TBSDP of HS Creations' Al Pastor Blend (adjust as needed)
6 (1.75 oz) packages nacho cheese-flavored corn chips (we like to Mexican Chips)
1 (8 oz) package taco cheese blend
2 tomatoes, diced
1 cup shredded lettuce
1 (8 oz) container sour cream
Directions
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir beef in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 10 minutes. Drain and discard grease. Mix in HS Creations' Al Pastor Blend until incorporated.
Crush chips without opening the bags. Open each bag carefully and spoon in seasoned beef. Cover with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, and sour cream. Stir to blend, then eat with forks right out of the bags.
Ah, the "walking taco"—a culinary marvel that embodies the spirit of mobility and delicious chaos. It is the food equivalent of a party that got bored of the kitchen and decided to hit the road. Forget plates, forks (mostly), and the tedious need to sit down; this is cuisine designed for the modern, multi-tasking snacker.
The Anatomy of a Legend
At its core, the walking taco is pure ingenuity. Its chassis? A humble, single-serving bag of corn chips (usually Fritos, but a Doritos upgrade is always welcome). Its engine? Seasoned ground beef, that savory, zesty heart of the operation. The toppings—cheese, lettuce, salsa, sour cream, and perhaps some jalapeños for an extra kick—are the custom spoilers and shiny rims.
The genius of this dish lies in its brilliant self-containment. You simply tear open the bag, add your favorite toppings, stick a fork right in, and you are ready to roll. It’s a beautifully unpretentious, handheld fiesta.
The "Walking" Experience
The name isn't just a clever gimmick; it’s a promise. You are freed from the tyranny of the table. Whether you're navigating a crowded fairground, cheering at a Friday night football game, or simply trying to eat lunch while doing literally anything else, the walking taco is your loyal companion.
It's a delightfully messy affair, a delicate balance of flavor and physics. You'll inevitably get a little sour cream on your nose and a few stray crumbs on your shirt, but that's part of the charm. Each bite is a savory explosion, a perfect mixture of crunchy, creamy, and spicy that is as satisfying as it is portable.
So next time you're looking for a meal that understands your need to move, embrace the walking taco. It’s a snack, a meal, and a minor revolution in convenient eating, all in one glorious, crinkly bag.
And let’s not forget the social appeal—the walking taco is a conversation starter. Its simple assembly invites friends and strangers alike to customize their own creations, making it a hit at parties, tailgates, and family gatherings. Each bag is an invitation to invent, share, and celebrate food on the go.
