5 GOURMET BITES THAT LOOK EXPENSIVE (BUT DON’T REQUIRE A PERSONAL CHEF!) - HOLIDAY APPETIZERS
Five little appetizers. Five HS Creations blends. One very good reason to retire the sad vegetable tray! 😂
You know the party routine.
Someone brings chips. Someone brings dip. Someone arranges crackers around a block of cheese and calls it entertaining.
Well, The Organic Chemist has other plans!
We’re taking fresh ingredients, combining unexpected flavors, and turning them into beautiful little bites that look like they came from a gourmet catering company.
The best part? You don’t need a culinary degree, an enormous spice collection, or three hours of kitchen drama.
Just a few ingredients, cocktail picks, and the right HS Creations blend.
LET’S MAKE FIVE LITTLE BITES WITH BIG PERSONALITIES! 🧪
1. Cowboy Butter Steak & Pear Skewers
When a steakhouse meets a fruit bowl, wonderful things happen!
Ingredients
¾ lb sirloin steak, cut into 12 bite-sized pieces
1 firm Bosc pear, cut into 12 chunks
1 TBSP olive oil
1 TBSP HS Creations Cowboy Butter Blend (start there, then, season to taste if needed)
2 TBSP unsalted butter
2 oz blue cheese, crumbled
1 tsp honey, optional
12 cocktail picks
Instructions
Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Toss with olive oil and Cowboy Butter Blend.
Heat a heavy skillet over medium-high heat.
Sear the steak pieces, turning to brown all sides. Cook until the centers reach 145°F, then rest for 3 minutes.
Melt the butter in a small saucepan. Stir in honey if using.
Thread one steak cube and one pear chunk onto each cocktail pick.
Add a small amount of crumbled blue cheese.
Drizzle lightly with the warm butter mixture and serve.
THE ORGANIC CHEMIST’S TIP: Choose a firm pear that won’t fall apart. And don’t drown everything in blue cheese—we want the Cowboy Butter seasoning to shine!
2. Savory Stuffing Deviled Egg Bites
Grandma’s deviled eggs just got a Thanksgiving promotion! 😂
Ingredients
6 large hard-boiled eggs, peeled
2½ TBSP mayonnaise
¾ tsp Dijon mustard
¼ tsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp HS Creations Savory Stuffing Blend, plus a little more to taste.
Paprika for garnish
Fresh parsley, optional
Instructions
Cut the hard-boiled eggs in half lengthwise.
Carefully remove the yolks and place them in a small bowl.
Mash the yolks until fine and crumbly.
Add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and vinegar. Mix until creamy.
Stir in Savory Stuffing Blend.
Taste before adding more seasoning.
Spoon or pipe the filling into the egg whites.
Garnish with paprika and parsley.
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
THE ORGANIC CHEMIST’S TIP: Savory Stuffing contains salt and chicken bouillon, so start small. We’re looking for a delicate sage-and-herb twist, not a deviled egg that thinks it’s an entire Thanksgiving casserole!
3. Mangiare Chicken Caprese Skewers
Italy called. It wants its appetizer back! 🇮🇹
Ingredients
¾ lb boneless, skinless chicken breast
12 cherry tomatoes
12 small mozzarella balls
12 fresh basil leaves
1 TBSP olive oil
1 TBSP HS Creations Mangiare Blend, start with this and season to taste.
1 TBSP balsamic glaze
12 cocktail picks
Instructions
Cut chicken into 12 approximately equal pieces.
Toss chicken with olive oil and Mangiare Blend.
Heat a skillet over medium heat.
Cook chicken, turning occasionally, until browned and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
Transfer chicken to a plate and allow it to cool slightly.
Thread one chicken piece, one folded basil leaf, one mozzarella ball, and one cherry tomato onto each pick.
Arrange on a serving platter.
Drizzle lightly with balsamic glaze immediately before serving.
THE ORGANIC CHEMIST’S TIP: Pat mozzarella dry before assembling. Nobody wants their beautiful appetizer sliding across the platter like it’s trying to escape!
4. OPA! Greek Shrimp & Mango Skewers
A Mediterranean vacation without the airfare!
Ingredients
12 large raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 ripe but firm mango, cut into 12 chunks
1 TBSP olive oil
1/2 TBSP HS Creations OPA! Greek Blend (season to taste)
1 TBSP fresh lemon juice
1 tsp honey, optional
Fresh parsley for garnish
12 cocktail picks
Instructions
Pat shrimp dry with paper towels.
Toss shrimp with olive oil and OPA! Greek Blend.
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
Cook shrimp approximately 2–3 minutes per side, until opaque and cooked through.
In a small bowl, mix lemon juice with optional honey.
Thread one shrimp and one mango chunk onto each pick.
Drizzle with the lemon mixture.
Garnish with parsley and serve.
THE ORGANIC CHEMIST’S TIP: Choose mango that’s sweet but still firm. Mushy mango belongs in a smoothie, not on a cocktail pick! 😂
5. Universal Seared Tuna, Avocado & Cucumber Bites
A little steakhouse. A little sushi-bar attitude. A whole lot of flavor!
Ingredients
¾ lb tuna steak
1 ripe but firm avocado
½ English cucumber, cut into 12 thick rounds
1 TBSP olive oil
1/2 TBSP HS Creations Universal Blend, initially
1 TBSP fresh lime juice, divided
1 tsp honey, optional
Fresh cilantro or chives, optional
12 cocktail picks
Instructions
Pat tuna dry.
Rub with olive oil and lightly season with Universal Blend.
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
Sear tuna on both sides, then adjust the heat and continue cooking until the center reaches 145°F.
Allow the tuna to rest briefly before cutting into 12 bite-sized pieces.
Cut avocado into 12 chunks and toss gently with half the lime juice.
Mix the remaining lime juice with optional honey.
Assemble each bite with a cucumber round, a piece of tuna, and avocado.
Secure with a cocktail pick and drizzle lightly with the lime mixture.
Garnish and serve promptly.
THE ORGANIC CHEMIST’S TIP: Tuna, avocado, and cucumber already offer plenty of flavor and texture. Start with a small amount of Universal Blend so the fish remains the star.
THE ORGANIC CHEMIST’S ENTERTAINING SECRETS
Want your guests to think you hired a caterer?
Here’s the secret.
Prepare the ingredients ahead. Assemble the bites just before serving. And act like it was effortless! 😂
What can you prepare ahead?
The day before:
Hard-boil the eggs and refrigerate them.
Prepare the deviled egg filling and keep chilled separately.
Wash and dry vegetables.
Measure seasoning blends and prepare dressings.
On party day:
Cook the steak, chicken, shrimp, and tuna.
Cut the pears, mango, and avocado close to serving time.
Assemble skewers.
Add garnishes and drizzles immediately before serving.
Keep cold perishable appetizers at 40°F or below, and hot foods at 140°F or above when holding for service. Refrigerate perishable foods within two hours.
For a gathering with children, remember that decorative cocktail picks can be a choking or injury hazard.
How many bites should you make?
For a party where a full meal follows, plan approximately 3–5 small appetizers per person, depending on how long guests will be waiting.
For a cocktail party without dinner, make more.
And if you happen to eat three while assembling the platter…
That’s called quality control. 🧪😂
